The second core range single malt to be released from LAGG Distillery, Corriecravie is here! As with every Lagg whisky, the production process involved water from the distillery's own borehole as well as a specifically chosen barley variety (Concerto in this case), yeast, and fermentation time tailored to the particular whisky. Corriecravie was then matured initially in bourbon barrels before being finished for approximately 6 months in oloroso sherry hogsheads from renowned producer Miguel Martin in Jerez, Spain. It was bottled at 55% ABV, without chill filtration, and with no added colour.

The Corriecravie Edition will be bottled in limited quantities once a year, so you can expect more in the future.

Tasting Notes :

Appearance : Dark Amber

Nose : walnuts, apples and redcurrants stand out, with a fairly dry, slightly dusty and vegetal kind of peat. Light whiffs of lacquered meat. Hazelnuts and blackberries appear. Then light mentholy notes, whiffs of iodine and earthy peppercorns.

Palate : fairly thick and oily. Plenty of toffee notes, with milk chocolate and cherry sweetness. It quickly becomes drier and ashier, again showing light meaty undertones. Some wood spice, like cinnamon, ginger and clove. There’s also a grainy sharpness to it that I associate with other types of spirit. Obviously young.

Finish: fairly long, with more nutty dryness, dusty ash and hints of bitter chocolate.
