This is a small batch bottling drawn from a mix of 90% bourbon casks and 10% sherry casks. It has been bottled at 59.2% 

Tasting Notes:

Nose:Aromas of freshly baked shortbread, cream soda, banana bread and shredded coconut with a good dose of peat smoke.

Palate: The creamy, vanilla notes carry through to the palate in notes of buttered biscuits and custard creams. 

Finish: The peat is strongly present in the finish, paired with hints of ripe gooseberries.

Matured for a minimum of five years in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, the first limited edition to be fully-matured in this cask type.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: Sweet sultanas and raisins with rounded peat smoke and layers of liquorice and hints of citrus sweetness..

Palate:  Brown sugar and malty sweetness then orange peel, citrus, dark chocolate and waves of sherry sweetness.

Finish: Chocolate coated raisins, oak smoke, mixed spices and lasting PX sweetness.

Neus:  tonen van zoete specerijen en een minerale achtergrond

Smaak: In de mond is het fris, omhullend en mineraal. Een wijn met een frisse zuurgraad en een brede en sappige afdronk.

Het Huis: Anselmo Mendes werd geboren in Monção en volgde de traditie van zijn familie. Van generatie op generatie wijdden zij hun leven aan landbouw en wijn. De passie voor het werken op het land bracht hem naar het 'Instituto Superior de Agronomia' (Instituut voor Landbouwkunde) in Lissabon, waar hij in 1987 afstudeerde. Tijdens zijn studie groeide zijn interesse in wijn.

Anselmo speelde een belangrijke rol in de heropleving van de streek en wordt vandaag erkend als één van de grote witte wijnmakers van Portugal. De Alvarinho-druif kreeg de hoodrol, maar Anselmo herwaardeerde ook andere lokale rassen als Loureiro, Avesso en Vinhão. 

Zijn wijnen blinken uit in frisheid en mineraliteit. De granietbodems, de nabijheid van de oceaan en de noordelijke ligging in Portugal spelen daarin een bepalende rol.
