Kilkerran Heavily Peated Batch 14 is a robust single malt Scotch whisky from Campbeltown, produced at the Glengyle Distillery. Malted to 45 ppm and bottled at natural cask strength, this batch continues the series' signature combination of intense coastal smoke and classic Campbeltown complexity, matured in a cask combination of 90% ex-bourbon and 10% ex-sherry casks.

Tasting Notes:

The nose opens with aromas of honeycomb, toasted wholegrain bread, wood smoke, and coastal charcoal-grilled seafood. On the palate, it is full and oily, delivering rich notes of lemon biscuits, smoked ham, ripe melon, and salted caramel, underscored by well-integrated campfire peat. The finish is long and balanced, leaving lingering impressions of peat smoke, candied lemon peel, and a sweet, buttery mouthfeel.

Distillery:

Glengyle Distillery is located in Campbeltown, a region once recognized as the whisky capital of the world with over thirty active distilleries before a devastating decline left only a couple standing.

Originally founded in 1872 by William Mitchell, Glengyle closed its doors in 1925 and remained silent for nearly eight decades, its buildings repurposed and stills sold off. In 2004, J. & A. Mitchell & Co. (the owners of neighboring Springbank Distillery) triumphantly revived the estate, meticulously restoring the historic Victorian buildings and installing traditional production equipment, including cast-iron washbacks and direct-fired stills, to resurrect the legendary Kilkerran brand.

Today, Glengyle operates entirely independently and traditionally, utilizing 100% floor maltings shared with Springbank, employing traditional methods without chill-filtration or added coloring, and standing proudly as a cornerstone of Campbeltown's modern renaissance.
