It was first created in 2005 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the handing over of the Elixir de Longue vie manuscript by Marshal d'Estrées to the Chartreux de Vauvert. This liqueur is inspired by the “liqueur de santé” or “Elixir de table” developed at the beginning of the 19th century, which in 1840 became the Chartreuse Verte.

The "Liqueur d'Elixir" is a blend liqueur. To create this liqueur, the Carthusians have put all their know-how and knowledge to select a traditional green Chartreuse liqueur by integrating, in a perfect balance, the power of the Elixir Végétal.

Tasting Notes :

Appearance: vibrant green color typical of Chartreuse

Nose: herbal and aromatic, with rich and fragrant notes of mint, anise, sage, thyme, and eucalyptus. There may also be hints of citrus, and a faint background of spicy and woody undertones from the aging process.

Palate: bold and intense, with the classic herbal flavors of Chartreuse (anise, mint, bitter orange, and juniper) coming through powerfully. The 56% alcohol makes the flavor profile potent and pronounced, with a spicy heat that lingers. 

Finish: The finish is long and warming, with the herbal bitterness becoming more prominent as the alcohol evaporates, leaving a spicy, slightly peppery aftertaste.

Created in 1840, this yellow liqueur is inspired by the Elixir Végétal recipe. It was so popular that Father Garnier, attorney and responsible for liqueurs at the time, subsequently decided to officially name it Chartreuse Jaune and registered the “Chartreuse” mark in 1852. It was a liqueur with a 43 ° content, produced and still made today by the Chartreux Fathers.

Chartreuse Jaune is characterized by its sweetness, spicy scents and natural color from 130 plants, flowers, bark, roots and spices.

Tasting Notes :

Appearance: An intense yellow color, 

Nose: a fresh and spicy nose. Scents of turmeric, citrus and anise.

It was produced for the first time in 1963.
"V.E.P." Vieillissement Exceptionnellement Prolongé (Exceptionally Prolonged Aging) is a registered trademark specific to Chartreuse.

Produced each year in limited quantities, the Chartreuse V.E.P. is made using the same processes as the Chartreuse Verte. The Carthusians took care to select certain traditional green liqueurs which will continue to age for many years in demi-muids. The patina of time allows it to develop aromas of great complexity and long persistence.

Appearance: rich, deep green color

Nose: herbal and fragrant, with the prominent scents of mint, eucalyptus, sage, and other botanicals.

Palate: complex and well-balanced. Expect herbal intensity, with layers of flavors like anise, thyme, juniper, and a mix of bitter and sweet notes. The longer aging period gives it a smoother, more rounded taste compared to the younger Chartreuse Verte, with a longer finish and a subtle oakiness.

Finish: lingering, warm, and slightly spicy
