Thought peat was all about Islay? Think (or perhaps that should be 'drink') again. All Islay fans owe it to themselves to check out Connemara from the splendid Cooley distillery.

Tasting Notes :

Appearance: Clear, mid golden amber with polished golden glints.

Nose: Sweet barley (touch of barley water) with wafts of peaty smoke and well baked apple crumble.

Palate: Lightly honey sweet, subdued clean rather than sooty smoke with peaty vegetal notes, sweet barley water, light spice and vanilla oak.

Finish: Lingering smoke, spicy oak and sweet almonds.

Cihuatan Solera 12 rum is made with rums aged "up to" 12 years, which is an indication of the solera aging method.

Tasting Notes :

Appearance : mahogany

Nose: The aroma of the rum shares notes of vanilla, cherry, caramel, and smoky oak.

Palate: smoky vanilla, followed by caramel, dark chocolate, cherry, with a bite of oak tannins and mineral notes.

Finish: oak notes, long dry finish

Land: El Salvador

Distillery : Licorera Cihuatán

Alcohol by volume : 40% 

Turquoise Bay Rum is a blend of aged rums that is finished in cognac barrels.

Tasting Notes :

Appearance : amber

Nose: Sweet scents of raw sugar, molasses, caramelised peach and light cinnamon.

Palate: an elegant, silky, middle-weight rum with flavours of pineapple pudding, dilute golden syrup, liquorice bullets and sweet spice.

Finish: Ends nicely balanced, medium dry
